After obtaining a Bachelor in Commerce at the University of Stellenbosch in 1996, a passion for scuba diving, led Dr Esser to become a SCUBA instructor and owner of a diving shop in Stellenbosch. He continues to study for his Masters in Philosophy, with a specialization in Bio-Medical Ethics. He combined his knowledge and experience to consult on and facilitated projects for healthcare, investment and information technology businesses. Dr Esser spent a few years working in the UK, at which time he decided to study towards a general medical degree, which he achieves in 2009 at the University of the Free State in South Africa.
With hands-on experience working at a number of hospitals in the Western Cape, Dr Esser gains insight in the field of laboratory medicine and genomics, while working at the Division of Chemical Pathology at Tygerberg Hospital. During the last 5 years he gained valuable experience providing expert support to healthcare facilities and executive teams to achieve clinical and commercial goals. This included, suitability assessment and validation of strategic plans, staffing and resource requirements. Risk management and mitigation advice. Oversight and quality management of project deliverables as well as clinical consultation and support.
Further training in healthcare quality improvement, lean-six sigma, process mining and healthcare AI, with proven experience over an array of clinical and business related spheres in healthcare provides a unique opportunity to facilitate and consult for any healthcare organisation and start-ups.
